Blogging When you Are Unemployed for Extra Cash

I have a friend who is unemployed. Yes, it is a bad time out there, but instead of sitting home waiting for the phone to ring from all of those applications you sent out- you might try blogging to make some extra cash. How much money can I make with blogging? Well, you get out of it what you put into it. I have a full time job, but can make enough money now to pay my rent, just from the blogs I wrote back when I was unemployed. You should do it too. What do you have to lose.

The Benefits of Blogging While Unemployed

1. What else do you have to do?
2. What money are you bringing in each month (besides unemployment insurance).
3. You have the time, now is the time to get started.
4. Build on online resume of work you can show potential employers.
5. Network with other web publishers and possibly get a real job blogging.
6. Every article you post will return X amount of money (per day, week, year)
7. While it is slow going at the start of your blogging career you will quickly realize that you will earn money and as long as your articles are live on the internet, money will come in to your account.

So, the same friend of mine that is jobless has all the tools to get started blogging and making money. However for some reason people think that blogging is too hard or will take too much time. The fact is if you can write one article per day or week, you will have a sizable amount of content from which to start making money. Also the longer that it is out there the higher it will be ranked with search engines bring in even more money.

Much like a professional writer or actor each time someone reads your article and sees a link on your site placed there by an advertiser, and clicks on it, you will receive money. It depends on what kind of ads are placed on your site to receive good money through clicks. For example any articles regarding medical or legal issues usually have high value ads. While more popular subjects may bring smaller amount per click.

Here is what you need to Blog successfully

1. A computer/laptop
2. Internet Access (or use a library)
3. A place to post your articles/content (this site is an example- or earn more and have your own .com site)
4. Affiliate Ad program (there are many out there that are easy to get started on.
5. Social Networking websites (to promote your blog)

This is not a quick rich scheme, this is about doing something positive while you are not earning any money. You might be wondering, "What should I write about?". The answer is, write what you know about. The best webpages have unique content that a select user will seek out. What information do you know about? Write on that. Or, share your experiences or life and gain followers. Be creative and keep writing and I promise you will see results.

The profits will not start rolling in right away, but if you have a good following on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other social networking sites you can link your articles and share them with your followers. If 10 people share your article with 10 people..well you can see how a small article can get traffic (and clicks which equates to income). Hubpages is a great place to start as well as Blogger, but at some point you should get your own domain. Check out some of the big .com webpages like Godaddy to see how cheap and easy it is to have your own .com site.

When you get a few blogs started, you can link them together and make a network of pages that users will navigate through.

While it may be rough going at first, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You will also realize quickly what articles get attention (meaning users are interested in the information) and which articles get little to no attention. I would stay away from article topics that are very popular, there is just too much competition. My advice would be to go with niche articles that provide unique information. While you may not be able to retire on your web writing income right away- it is much like dividends that constantly keep trickling in. Once you blog for a year or two you learn more tricks of the trade, and your articles get seasoned in search engines like Google and Bing. It is not uncommon to get 30,000 hits a year from an article all from good ranking in a search engine. Of course, if a popular blog like huffingtonpost.com links to your article you might see a huge boost in traffic.
